So, I’ve been working on the same blanket for years, haven’t picked it back up yet this year, but Mister Underfoot won’t let me finish it. I made a post about it last year that you can find here: The Blanket I’ll Never Finish.

After I made that post, I decided that since he loved the blanket I was working on so much, I’d just make him one of his own. Since it was smaller, it was easier to work on, but he still had to try it out before it was finished.

It’s a simple blanket, just single, double and triple crochet throughout. On the row before switching colors, I did a variety of variations. Some were 3 sc, 3 dc, 3 tc, 3 dc, 3 sc, 3 dc and so on. Some were 1 of each repeating and some were just seemingly random. I wanted to add a little something to see even though it was a blanket for a kitty.

And here’s what he wound up with…

The variegated rows actually look pretty interesting. I love working with variegated yarn because you never know exactly how it’s going to look until it’s finished. Some people see ducks, others rabbits. I see a pattern of blobs, but I’ve never had something I’ve made with variegated turn out looking quite so uniform before.

After the blanket was finished, I spread it out on the couch. Mister Underfoot jumped up on the couch, wrapped his arms around the edge of it and pulled it up to his face.

I left him alone with it and came back a few hours later to this.

I don’t think he likes it.
