I tried to imitate Mister Underfoot’s pose, but I hurt my neck waiting for him to figure out how to work the camera.

This is the “Phhtt! I refuse to wake up and move” position. While utilizing this superpower, Underfoot somehow gains fifty pounds, turns the cuteness factor up a hundred and is nigh immovable.

This is a valid excuse for not getting anything accomplished today, right?

Progression of a picture

My father took this picture of a field of sunflowers near my parents farm. I always loved this picture, but the sky was very boring and the colors were muted, so I decided to try to fix it.

Sunflower Field Original

I added a blue sky from another picture. I would have posted that picture as well, but I can’t remember which one I used. I also intensified the color of the sunflowers some, but not so much that it took on a fake look.

Sunflower Field Color & Sky Edit

Snowbell is a very energetic kitty and taking pictures of her was actually more difficult than editing the pictures themselves. I chased her all over the house with the camera. When she wasn’t running away from me or turning away from the camera, she was trying to get me to pay attention to her by rubbing up against the camera almost knocking it out of my hands. While she was in front of the window, she finally stood still for me long enough to take a couple of pictures.

Needless to say, I have a lot of pictures of a cat tail in case I ever need them for something. Not sure why I kept them.

Snowbell Original Photo

This is the finished product. I removed the screen from behind Snowbell to replace it with the sunflowers. I also made Snowbell a little brighter. She is a very white cat, which I didn’t think came across in the original picture. I thought about adding the screen back in, but I couldn’t get it to look right.  The perspective is off and it’s not wonderful, but I learned a lot about the process. I’m hoping to get better with time and practice.

The finished product appeared in a calendar all about Snowbell for the month of August.

Seconds before… I grabbed her and didn’t let her fall down the laundry chute.

She was so curious she couldn’t resist when I left the chute open. I was getting the kitchen towels and when I came back I found her like this. She actually managed to slide part way down, her claws dug in to the wooden sides, when I set the camera down and grabbed her.

Silly curious kitty.

Several weeks later, she actually did slide all the way down.  She landed with a muffled, shocked cry but softly on the clothes at the bottom.

She was never curious about the laundry chute again. I learned to keep it closed anyway. Even a few seconds is enough time for a curious kitty to find an indoor slide. And we had two other possible curious kitties. I’m shocked they didn’t learn to team up and open it themselves.

So, Mister Underfoot, what do you think about…

Uh huh? Wha? *snore*

Mister Underfoot, I was trying to ask you…

Rub my belly. *snore*

But Mister Underfoot! I have this daily post and I’m supposed to…

Eek! I almost forgot to add a post today. Since I don’t have much time, I’ll post another photo. I’ll make sure to do something different tomorrow!

I still have grand plans for posts for the rest of the month, but I do have a lot of pictures I would like to add as well. So, if my grand plans don’t come to fruition, I always something to post.

Have a topic you’d like me to cover?  Let me know in the comments or by email.

It’s been awhile since I posted a photo edit, so I thought I’d share one. I did this with some help from my mom. She’s better with shadows than I am, so she cleaned up my mess.

My Baby Dark Tortoisehell in 2005This is the sister of the Tortiseshell Calico posted earlier.  Unlike her sister, she’s doing well and is as feisty as ever.  She’s a beautiful kitty with very expressive eyes and vocal cords.

She tries to talk constantly, but we can rarely make out what she’s saying.  No, now, me, food, here, bed, and look seem to be the extent of her understandable vocabulary.  If she isn’t understood, she gets louder and louder until we follow her.  Most of the time, she leads us into the bathroom.  We haven’t figured that one out yet.
